About the process
These textured pieces are created using a variety of different mediums.
The process begins out in nature on my excursions around the Yorkshire dales. I have a passion for finding unusual organic materials and then combining them with other fixatives and powders back in the studio to create the base. Plasters, sands and organic materials are first applied to canvas then fixed and hardened, coloured in various media and finally inks and oils used to bring out definition and final imagery.
I work intuitively with the patterns that emerge in a way that attempts to capture something of the ephemeral fleeting nature of the visual world as it combines with the spiritual, evoking a feeling impression of a landscape that is reminiscent of both the inner and outer worlds.

Simply Oils
Oils are my first love and although I use many other mediums (from watercolour to pastel) I still paints predominantly in this style. I mainly focus on landscapes of either the nearby Yorkshire dales and the red kites that grace the skies there, or imagined otherworldly scenes that I finds equally enjoyable to create.

About the Artist
Handmade reclaimed wooden frames to display pieces on request subject to availability (see image).
Living in North Yorkshire with my two young girls, I work from home in my studio creating pieces inspired by my time out in the elements.
I'm a campervan enthusiast (I love to revamp old vans with my DIY visions!) and I travel as often as possible to the raw and rugged backdrops of the dales as starting points for my creations in the studio.
My daughters are also enthusiastic artists themselves so we often work together in the studio.
Their work will one day be joining mine on here....
